How Tenglow works

The short version: you answer a few questions once, and after that every day is one tap.

You answer five questions, Tenglow builds a four week plan, and a timer guides you through each workout. Finished workouts count toward your weekly goal and your streak, and the next workout is always waiting on the Today screen.

The steps

  1. Answer five questions

Your goal (stronger, toned, more energy or move better), your level, the equipment you have, how many minutes you want (10, 20 or 30) and the days you would like to train.

  2. Confirm your health notice

A short note says Tenglow gives general fitness information, not medical advice, and asks you to confirm you are 18 or older.

  3. See your plan

Tenglow picks a four week program that matches your goal and shows your week, plus the first workout with photos of the first moves.

  4. Try one workout

You can run one workout before you subscribe, so you know what you are paying for.

  5. Follow the timer

Each step shows a countdown ring, the exercise photo, a short cue and an easier and harder option. Pause or skip any time.

  6. Log and repeat

Finish a workout and it joins your streak and weekly goal. For dumbbell moves you can set the weight, and Tenglow remembers it for next time.

What happens behind the scenes

Your level sets the timing

Beginner steps are 30 seconds of work and 30 seconds of rest. Intermediate is 40 and 20. Advanced is 45 and 15.

Equipment is a hard filter

The plan only uses moves that need what you selected. Pick nothing and you get bodyweight moves. Add dumbbells or bands and more moves open up.

Every workout has three parts

Two warm-up moves, a main block that fills the rest of your time, and two cool-down stretches.

Programs get a little harder each week

Week two adds five seconds of work per exercise, week three adds ten and week four adds fifteen, with a bit less rest to keep the session length the same.

The next workout follows what you did

The Today screen picks the next workout from the program based on how many you have finished, so a skipped day does not break the order.
